Accurate keyframe selection and keypoint tracking for robust visual odometry

This paper presents a novel stereo visual odometry (VO) framework based on structure from motion, where a robust keypoint tracking and matching is combined with an effective keyframe selection strategy. In order to track and find correct feature correspondences a robust loop chain matching scheme on two consecutive stereo pairs is introduced. Keyframe selection is based on the proportion of features with high temporal disparity. This criterion relies on the observation that the error in the pose estimation propagates from the uncertainty of 3D points—higher for distant points, that have low 2D motion. The estimation of the fundamental matrix from a set of corresponding points is a relevant topic in epipolar stereo geometry [10]. Due to the high amount of outliers between the matches, RANSAC-based approaches [7, 13, 29] have been used to obtain the fundamental matrix. In this paper two new contributes are presented: a new normalized epipolar error measure which takes into account the shape of the features used as matches [17] and a new strategy to compare fundamental matrices. Unsteadiness and transition to turbulence in woven spacer filled channels for Membrane Distillation

To characterize the performance of Membrane Distillation (MD) modules, channels filled with woven spacers were investigated by Computational Fluid Dynamics (including Direct Numerical Simulations and the use of the SST k-ω turbulence model) and by parallel experiments with Thermochromic Liquid Crystals. The cases considered here regard mutually orthogonal filaments with a spacer pitch to channel height ratio P/H=2, two spacer orientations θ with respect to the main flow (0° and 45°), and bulk Reynolds numbers Re from ∼200 to ∼2000, an interval of great interest in practical MD applications. Numerical and experimental investigation of a cross-flow water turbine

ABSTRACTA numerical and experimental study was carried out for validation of a previously proposed design criterion for a cross-flow turbine and a new semi-empirical formula linking inlet velocity to inlet pressure. Turun yliopiston ranskan oppiaineen tarjoamilla opetustuokiolla sarjakuvia tehdään vähän tutummiksi myös Turun kaupungin Elämyspolku-toimintaan osallistuville peruskoululaisille. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analizy procesów rozwoju regionalnego sektorów TSL (ST) wielkich systemów społeczno -terytorialnych (STS) w kontekście zjawisk globalizacyjnych i glokalizacyjnych.Analiza klasteryzacji terytorialnej i funkcjonalnej jest oparta o modele korelacyjne dynamiki czasowej i zbieżności strukturalno - funkcjonalnej infrastruktury kolejowej jako bazy ST w skalach czasowych – 150, 50 i 30 lat z oceną kwasi - okresowości i zbieżności na zbiorze 56 państw i wielkich STS – hiper-regionów z najbardziej rozwiniętymi ST. Udowodniono zmienność okresowości cykli zbieżności procesów i możliwość identyfikacji STS jako hiper-regionów transportowych.
